Massage in Las Vegas

Where do I get 24hr in room Deep Tissue massage? What are the benefits of a swedish massage? Massage Solutions has the answer! Most may consider a one hour swedish or deep tissue massage to be a luxury, but did you know that the average person places such strain and stresses upon their body on a daily basis, that some form of treatment in necessary at least twice a week? Lets think about it….

Hunched over the computer all day causes neck and shoulder pain. Long periods of sitting causes knee ache, pelvic pain (the sit-bones), vericose veins, reduced blood flow, and usually low back ache. Carrying a purse, heavy item, or bag over one shoulder causes mis-alignment of the spine and shoulder girdle. How many times do you twist while driving the car? Reach for your keys with hands full of stuff balanced precariously on the legs? How many mom’s out there put the baby on the hip?

All these daily activities build up the stresses throughout the day, and no matter how many workplace safety and “proper lifting” notices are placed, do you “squat” to pick up a dropped pencil, or do the ballerina balance with one leg out behind you? We all know the answer!

Swedish massage is beneficial for the circulatory system, enhancing the flow of blood throughout the tissues, eliminating toxins, increasing removale of wastes from the system, thereby enhancing skin and muscle tone.

Deep tissue work breaks up the knots and fibers entangled within the belly of muscle fibers through bad posture, excessive strain, and even routine exercise. Combined with sports massage techniques, this is extremely effective in restoring and repairing normal tissue wear and tear that occurs in all of us throughout the day.

Neck and Shoulder release methods should become habit, and are available, to a degree, for self massage. A few simple maneuvers before bedtime will re-align the fibers within the neck, shoulders, and cervical spine. Fifteen to twenty minutes while watching tv releases tension, and going to sleep allows the body to repair without additional strain.

Accupressure is an often misinterpreted modality. Though it has effects and benefits upon the musculature system and internal organs, the focus of this practice is upon the energy body of an individual. By restoring the balance of energy flow, the physical body has the “charge” necessary to perform. This will never release the knots in your muscles, but it will restore healthy functioning to reduce the creation of these knots.

Reflexology is also an energy work modality, targeting points within the hands, feet, and ears corresponding with (linked to) specific organs and tissues throughout the body. Using similar energy meridians as acupunture and accupressure, Reflexology likens to pushing an “on” button, to stimulate the flow of energy along the line to target and energize a specific organ, giving it an infusion of energy. This can also be learned as a self massage method, given whenever you are ready.

When looking for your personal massage therapist, look for those who suit your needs. Some work only in spas, while others have offices, and some are outcall and will come to your home. Always check for licensing, and be sure they are offering the services you want.

Talk to the therapist, and be sure they listen to you. Never be afraid to end a session if you are uncomfortable, or the therapist is not attune to your needs, meaning they having little or no sensitivity of “touch.” Each therapist has a different style, and not every therapist is for every body. Communication is key to your treatment, and though the therapist is well trained, we are not mind readers!

Take care of yourself and your body!

Namaste!

Self Massage for Affordable Health

Let's face it, we love Massage yet find ourselves too busy, or too broke to get one from a trained therapist. There are some things only a trained therapist can achieve; however, there are many things we can do on our own to achieve lasting results for everyday aches and pains.
Apply lotions Purposefully. The long, smoothing strokes of Swedish massage will enhance circulation of blood, lymph fluids, and extract toxins from withing the muscle fibers. After smoothing lotion over the area (especially the legs) cup your hands as if holding water, apply a light to medium pressure with the outside edge of hand, making firm contact from palm to pinky tip.
On legs, start from the knee working toward the hip, drawing long, slow, even strokes all the way through. You will notice that the skin will change color over the area you are working, usually to a lighter appearance. This is good, as you are moving the blood and lymph fluids along. Continue until you have covered the entire area. Do the same from ankle to knee, then even longer strokes all the way from ankle to hip to complete the sequence.

For the arms use the same technique working from elbows to shoulder, then wrists to elbow, and finally all the way from wrist to shoulder.

Neck Release is a bit trickier, but still possible, and can be done while watching TV, listening to music, or even better, while in the sauna or steam room. This is where you will feel your way along. Using the thumbs where the head meets the back of the neck , apply a deep tissue pressure downward, feeling your way along the bumpy parts (transverse processes) of the cervical spine, as far as you can comfortably reach. For a greater stretch, turn, lean, or lower your head SLOWLY at the same time. Working around the base of the skull, cover every area of the neck to the top of the shoulders.
Keep in mind that working the neck is very tender, and sometimes feels as if the tissue is ripping/tearing away from the head. If this happens, lessen the pressure, reverse direction, then support the area of sensation with the fingers of the other hand, and continue. This technique is most beneficial when done before sleep, as the neck needs time to integrate what has been done, and will usually feel a bit sore the next day.
Self massage can be the most valuable tool one can have to maintain health and wellness. The best things in Life are Free!

Restless Leg Syndrome(RLS) and Massage

After a busy day we just want to lie back and relax!

For the projected millions of people struggling with restless legs, bodywork is one of the favored approaches to lessen this disruptive, irritating and painful, sleep-depriving condition.

Identified by creeping, tickling (like ants crawling up your legs), burning, tingling or aching, a person living with this syndrome feels the need to move their legs to relieve these sensations. Considered a central nervous system disorder, RLS often interferes with resting or falling asleep. Partial or complete cessation of the feeling when we move the affected limb, yet the symptoms often return as we rest again. It is easy to see why many RLS sufferers fall into an unhealthful cycle of sleeplessness.

RLS Treatment
The medical community regards restless legs syndrome as a condition that can be managed, but not necessarily cured. In general, the therapeutic approach is for improvement of the primary condition and lessening the severity of the RLS. For those with extreme pain and total sleep deprivation, medications are prescribed.

If medications are not used, or perhaps you seek a non-medicated course of treatment, most healthcare providers will advise one or more of the following approaches:

· MassageSwedish massage to the legs has been reported to ease RLS. Effleurage towards the hips, with light compression of the muscles. Ladies, a good time to do this is when applying lotions! Make the application purposeful, and the benefits increase.
· Hydrotherapy – Taking a warm bath often demonstrates favorable results. Jacuzzies are a saver for the legs, and excellent for self applied Accupressure! Allow the jet streams to massage the legs at a level comfortable to you. Always working, or "pushing" from the feet to the hip, when a tender point is located, especially in the gluteal region, stay the stream until a feeling of itching or tickling begins to subside or becomes uncomfortable.
· Moderate Exercise – While moderate exercise early in the day benefits leg circulation and therefore leg pain, strenuous exercise could potentially aggravate RLS. The boyancy of Aqua classes allow a low impact workout in which you control how deep to go into the exercise.
· Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine and Nicotine – Refraining from these substances, especially in the evening, can help reduce RLS severity. Alcohol takes away control of the limbs, while caffeine and Nicotine aggrevate the nervous system, causing an increase in restlessness and limb jerking.
· Compression – Wrapping the legs in ace bandages, or wearing compression stockings or support hose can reduce RLS sensations. For severe sufferers, wearing these while sleeping with knees supported under a bolster can help.

Aside from these, we at Massage Solutions recommend for everyone as an easy everyday maintenance to relieve many of these symptoms, is lie down with the legs supported on pillows at a 45 degree angle for at least 15 minutes every night. This will reduce the sensations of RLS dramatically, and allow you to fall into a deeper sleep.

Support the Las Vegas Philharmonic

We are currently in contact with the Las Vegas Philharmonic to engage the Music and Massage Mondays donation program. It is our wish here at Massage Solutions to support the LVPhil by donating all proceeds generated every Monday in 2008 to this outstanding orchestra.
Las Vegas is currently building an impressive Performing Arts Center in downtown Las Vegas at a cost of $450 million, and it is the intention to move the LVPhil, under the direction of Maestro David Itkin, from the UNLV Artemus Ham Concert Hall to this prestigious and beautiful structure. Of course, the expenses of performing at such an establishment increase, calling for the support of us all to create this dream.
Recent studies have shown up to 90% of successful business people such as CEOs, CFOs, COOs, (just name the acronym!) report music as a serious study throughout their life, and playing an instrument remains a key part of their lifestyle. Everyone knows the power of classical music in the mental and emotional development of children from infancy, just look at the Baby/Little Einstein series for proof! Orchestral music enriches communities and is a direct reflection of the existing culture in any area.
Las Vegas has impressive music programs, well within the top 10 across the nation. It is our hope here at Massage Solutions to enable this orchestra to become recognized worldwide, proudly standing alongside the New York Phil, the Boston Symphony, and the Berlin Symphonia.

Help spread the word! For everyone out there who listens to classical music, attends concerts, and of course gets a massage from time to time, schedule through Massage Solutions on any Monday in 2008 (and beyond), relax, heal, and support the LVPHIL, all at the same time!
